Statement Regarding the Iceland Volcano

Share |

The impact of the recent volcanic eruption in Iceland on the Airline industry has been widely covered in the media.  Like any other business which relies heavily on this form of transport for the shipment of products, we too have been affected.  The purpose of this statement is to provide customers and partners with reassurance and information regarding the steps we have taken to minimise disruption and delays to the shipping and delivery of products.  The principal actions we have taken are as follows:

  • Whilst disruption continues, all intra European air freight has been transferred to ground transport in order to secure delivery across European territories.
  • We have a strong inventory position across the majority of our product range in both Europe and North America and this has largely protected us and our ability to fulfil orders.
  • We have been proactively working with all our inbound suppliers to understand fully the impact the current disruption is causing them.  This includes understanding what contingency plans they have in place in order to maintain a business as usual approach.
  • We have a close knit group of partners and have been able to leverage this in order to minimize, as far as we possibly can, any delays to the fulfilment of customer orders.
  • Globally, our Service operations are fully operational.  Although there may be instances of minor delays, all repair processes inbound and outbound are working normally.

As of today (20th April), the Authorities in Europe have lifted sanctions on certain airports and these are now beginning to resume flight schedules.  We expect this trend to continue to the majority of the key European airports over the next few days, whereupon all flight schedules should resume as normal.  However, we intend to monitor this unpredictable situation closely and will take whatever steps are necessary in order to ensure that any delays to the shipment of products are avoided or kept to an absolute minimum.  We will continue to inform customers and partners of these actions as the situation demands.
